Description:
This island a pine-studded speck adrift in the South Pacific Ocean and it served as a convict penal settlement from 6 March 1788 until 5 May 1855. In 1856 it was settled by descendants of Fletcher Christian and Bounty mutineers, together with Tahitian women.
